Our Story

Our rich 50 year history in the accounting profession began with our founding partner Richard H. Miers in 1965. Richard grew up on a small farm in Northern Louisiana and at 16 years old joined the Marines to fight for his country. While in the South Pacific, he met a fellow soldier that was in the accounting profession and the future was set. He spent his off hours during the war training for a future in accounting. When he completed his services, he returned home and began his accounting career in Los Angeles, California. In Los Angeles, he hung out his shingle in public accounting as well as serving as Chief Financial Officer for a large aerospace manufacturing company.

In the early 1960s, he moved his family to the High Desert where he spent some time as a municipal Finance Director before opening his practice in 1965. He engaged a successful practice in the early years, earning first his Public Accountant (P.A.) designation and then his Certified Public Accountant (C.P.A.) license next. In 1986, he asked his youngest son to join the company and in 1992 began the original Miers & Miers CPAs. With the addition of partners in 2000, the Company was expanded under the name Miers & Miers CPAs, LLP that it is today.

Richard H. Miers, CPA, as our founder, set the highest possible standards for the Company he started and for all of the members of our firm. Those standards of honesty, professionalism, and customer services guided the company until his death in 2011 and remain the foundation of our organization as we continue into the future.
